The original 1997 title Turok: Dinosaur Hunter has recently appeared on the Nintendo eShop with a listing for the Nintendo Switch and is marked to launch on the hybrid home console/handheld later this month in fact. The abrupt discovery took many users by surprise seeing that the initial Nintendo 64 title will receive a respected port for Nintendo’s latest platform.
Despite the initial shock from seeing the game on Nintendo’s storefront, this was seen from a mile away. Back in 2017, news surfaced as developer Night Dive Studios announced that the first and second installments of the series will be re-released for PC. Following after in early 2018 both titles were announced for Microsoft’s Xbox One. After the second re-launch, it was expected that other platforms will receive the same attention as well.
On top of the first game currently being listed on the eShop, it was revealed on Night Dive Studios’ Discord server that the second title, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, is also inbound to drop on the Switch. As of yet it has not been detailed if the sequel will launch alongside Turok or at a later date.

Basing the Switch port off of previous versions, both titles are expected to release at $20 a pop. And according to the game’s description, the title will feature similar graphical mechanics such as ricocheting bullets and water-formed foam.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter will launch for Nintendo Switch on March 18, 2019.
