Some difficult news was shared today at Twitch as it was announced that over 400 employees had to be let go from the company. Along with this news it was announced last week that Twitch CEO and co-founder, Emmett Shear stepped down after 16 years.
Dan Clancy, the brand new Twitch CEO shared that expectations were not met and this is due to the macroeconomic environment.
“Like many companies, our business has been impacted by the current macroeconomic environment, and user and revenue growth has not kept pace with our expectations. In order to run our business sustainably, we’ve made the very difficult decision to shrink the size of our workforce.”
Amazon announced 9,000 more layoffs and that includes the recent impact with Twitch.
Apparently more layoffs at Amazon, these ones appear to also impact Twitch (which so far has only experienced HR layoffs, and allowed attrition losses.)#TwitchNews pic.twitter.com/Ka07OCPgfv
