In the Assassin’s Creed universe, Ubisoft’s effort to continue delivering new installments is nowhere from stopping. In fact, there are actually five titles in the works. Of the mainline series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to release later on in 2023. Beyond that, there is also the Netflix-exclusive project in development. Not to mention the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Infinity which includes ‘Project Red’, ‘Project Hexe’, and ‘Project Jade’ for mobile as well.
Well, there was another project in the works. Alongside a Splinter Cell title, Assassin’s Creed was another in the pipeline for Oculus Quest 2. However, Ubisoft pressed that the games for virtual reality were to be shelved indefinitely. But according to a new report, the original Assassin’s Creed title is still said to be active awaiting for Meta (Facebook) to give the green light for marketing.
From Insider Gaming, Ubisoft has had a horrible time hiding ‘Project Nexus’ since the cancelation announcement with efforts to release the game for multiple virtual reality headsets. Among that, Ubisoft is said to also be internally discussing plans for a follow-up for Project Nexus as well. The first game is told to be comprised of 16 missions with multiple playable characters from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
In a separate report from Insider Gaming, it is disclosed Ezio de Firenzie Auditore, Connor Kenway, Haytam Kenway, and Kassandra all have respected gameplay scenarios for the virtual reality experience. Features like pickpocketing, lockpicking, climbing, assassinations, combat, and the leap of faith are said to be substantial mechanisms throughout the game.
Regarding Nexus 2 now, Ubisoft anticipates the first game to be a major seller for virtual reality and is already cashing in on making a follow-up. While Facebook will likely not allow the first title to be multiplatform, the report tells the second game is more likely to ship on multiple systems. The first game is said to ship sometime in late 2023 following Assassin’s Creed Mirage this year.
