Ubisoft Announces New Battle Royale Experience Ghost Recon Frontline

Although publisher Ubisoft remains one of the most prevalent video game companies on the planet, the firm still aims to push itself into new realms within the video game industry. Recently we witnessed that for the first-person shooter genre with xDefiant. Although Ubisoft delivered games like Rainbow Six Siege in the past, the new project is a free-to-play initiative that strive for the likeness similar to Call of Duty.

Elsewhere, we also saw Ubisoft reach for the battle royale realm of things when unveiling Hyper Scape last year in 2020. Although the game approached in a fashion familiar to how Apex Legends launched, the title did not retain the same amount of user collision Ubisoft likely anticipated then. Now, Ubisoft once again is pressing on battle royale once more.

On Tuesday, Ubisoft announced Ghost Recon Frontline with the tent pole mode for the coming project to be a 100-player, three-player squad game type. You can watch the reveal trailer for the game in the video below:

“Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline is a brand-new take on the franchise and the first game in the series to introduce a massive PvP experience, free to play, with full cross-platform support. The game features an advanced class system and large set of tactical support tools, allowing for complete freedom in strategic gameplay, with multiple ways to outsmart enemy teams and win each match,” Live Associate Producer Taina-Gabriela Ionita tells.

“We have a variety of spaces, some favoring long-ranged classes, some favoring the ones that prefer to fight up close and personal,” Bogdan Bridinel, Creative Director shares regarding the map. “We have fields, where you have to be cautious, sneaky, and good at long range, we have forests and dense settlements where you can get up close, we have some tall locations that make for great vantage points.”

Of course, the first closed playtest is set to take place soon from October 14 to October 21 in Europe which you can sign-up for by heading to the game’s website. Upon pushing on details for the connected universe shared between Ubisoft IPs, the firm last week unveiled that The Division Heartland first closed playtest is to start at the end of this month.
