Ubisoft Confirms Next-Gen Versions Of This Holiday’s Titles Will Not Receive Increased Pricing

Entering the second half of this year, players expecting to see some of the next iterations of the biggest titles in the industry are certainly in for a treat as we are also on the horizon for a new console generation. While titles will still be coming to the current wave of systems – Xbox One & PlayStation 4 – there are also respected upgrades for the newer units shipping later this holiday season.

Traditionally, these more optimized titles would receive a same day release with additional benefits such as better resolution output, higher framerate performance, and uniquely to this generation leap is raytracing integration. However, some publishers look to capitalize on these upgraded iterations. Such as 2K: the firm announcing NBA 2K21 disclosed that the next-generation versions will cost $10 more than what is offered on current systems.

But when it comes to the onslaught of titles shipping from Ubisoft later this year, the publisher tells that pricing will not be adjusted for the next-generation of titles coming later this year. Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier spares the news on Twitter:

The publisher shared the details during its latest earnings call stating that this would apply to this fall/holiday season. As for what follows into 2020 – Ubisoft did not give a direct answer. “We are concentrating on the Christmas releases. We have decided those games will be launched at $60.”

Ubisoft previously showcased its coming library of games earlier this month during its first Ubisoft Forward presentation. The publisher disclosed that there will be future virtual shows that will be taking place later on to unveil news on more anticipated properties in the coming months.
