Ubisoft Delays Skull And Bones Again, Now Scheduled To Launch March 2023

Looking ahead, Ubisoft remains to keep itself busy with new content and releases well into the following year. At the recent Ubisoft Forward, the firm shared its overhaul of projects for Assassin’s Creed. The IP is branching outward: Assassin’s Creed Mirage is to arrive next year. Alongside that is the ‘Infinity’ initiative which includes Projects ‘Red’ and ‘Hexe’ atop of an upcoming mobile exclusive, Project Jade too.

Rayman is said to make an appearance in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope via a DLC next year too. This November also harbors the newest Just Dance installment. Surprisingly, it will only be available on Xbox Series & PlayStation 5. So what about this year? Well, it was previously confirmed Skull and Bones ships in November after years of waiting.

But in a new statement on Wednesday, that date is no longer realistic to ship the game. Now, the game is officially arriving in 2023 later in March. You can read the statement below:

Our team is hard at work polishing and balancing the experience ahead of the worldwide launch. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to move our release date […] We’re very eager for you all to get your hands on Skull and Bones and dive in headfirst to the dangerous and exciting world of building your own pirate empire. To give you the best possible experience we’ve decided to take a little more time to make sure we can deliver exactly that.

Ubisoft goes on to mention an open playtest for Skull and Bones will be held in the near future to ease the tension of the unfortunate announcement – a date was not provided. “For the most eager of you, we are also very happy to announce that we will hold an open beta of the game in the near future. We’ll share more news on how you can sign up to register soon, so keep your spyglasses trained on our social media for more news and announcements.”

Skull and Bones stands to be the end of an era for Ubisoft. When speaking to Axios Gaming, CEO Yves Guillemot shared that the game is the last release before the firm transitions to selling full retail price at $70. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised Skull and Bones was delayed once again?
