When returning back to February of this year, Ubisoft during its annual fiscal year report disclosed that its coming lineup of big budget projects are projected to ship by the end of 2020 and leading into 2021. Specifically, about three games would ship in Q320 while the remaining two were expected to arrive in Q420 – all within the same financial year.
More excitingly, it was disclosed by Jason Schreier when still writing for Kotaku disclosed one of the titles to be a new mainline entry for Far Cry. That wasn’t until Ubisoft revealed during its first Ubisoft Forward that the game was coming and set for February 2021. Howbeit, plans look to have changed affecting the arrival of the game.
On Twitter recently, the game’s official Twitter account shared that game is being pushed beyond the advertised release due to the issues at hand of the global COVID-19 epidemic.
“While we know you are all anxious to get your hands on Far Cry 6, we want to let you know that we’ve been given more time to allow us to make this game you aspire to play while focusing on the well-being of our teams in this unprecedented global context,” the letterhead reads. While not sharing much detail on when to expect the game, it was relayed elsewhere in the firm’s latest Earnings Figures report that Rainbow Six Quarantine is being ushered to a later date also.
Not only that, but the two titles are also shared to arrive sometime during the first two financial quarters of the new year: Q121 & Q221. As shared by Niko Partners’ David Ahmad on the precedence, he shares that the respected conference call explains the two games are set to arrive between April 2021 to September 2021. The previously announced Avatar game is also projected to ship in 2022’s fiscal year.
“Benefitting from this strong momentum and despite having moved Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine to 2021-22 to leverage their full potential in the context of production challenges caused by COVID-19, Frédérick Duguet, Chief Financial Officer, shares on the topic during the Earnings Report.
