This past April after a stringing livestream from prolific artist BossLogic creating a portrait for the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, publisher Ubisoft officially reveals Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Following months of speculation and hints hidden in other Ubisoft-published titles, the firm announces that the next installment will be set in the age of Vikings and Norse mythology.
Upon the announcement, Ubisoft disclosed that the title will be arriving to current and next-generation consoles later on for some time in holiday 2020. Now during today’s Ubisoft Forward, the company unveils the first extended look at gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla alongside sharing the release date for the new title.
You can watch the shortened trailer in the video below:
Throughout the gameplay demo presented during the showcase, Ubisoft highlighted new gameplay elements that will be present in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. New encounters like raids on Saxon & raider-occupied strongholds, emphasis on building your Viking settlement, and the reintroduction of social stealth to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. These are just some of what can be expected in the full game later this year.
Regarding the arrival for the game, Ubisoft announced that PC alongside the current consoles (Xbox, PlayStation) can expect Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to arrive this coming November. As for next-generation systems, Ubisoft only shared that the game is “coming soon to next-gen consoles,” only vaguely indicating when updated version of Valhalla will arrive.
Initially, it was presumed that the game would launch for the newer hardware when understanding the game will arrive in ‘holiday 2020’. However, now it is uncertain seeing that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla still has no concrete date for either upgraded system. Ubisoft has confirmed Valhalla will support Smart Delivery for Xbox One owners transitioning to the new console, but currently it is still unsure on PlayStation’s side of things officially.
Are you getting Assassin’s Creed Valhalla later this fall?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 17, 2020; coming to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 “soon.”
