Alike with the next-generation Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 consoles that shipped earlier this week, the same can also be said for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft decided to reschedule the game’s release in anticipation for the game’s marketed platform which took place on Tuesday. And with the new Viking experience available for the franchise, new milestones were met for Ubisoft according to a new press release.
In the release, the firm tells that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla player population has surged in contrast to its 2018 predecessor. That Ubisoft Quebec’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launch player count is only half of what the firm is finding for this week’s launch for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The number of active players on launch day for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla doubled that of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a trend that is expected to continue as sales of the new generation of consoles increase. A testament to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla delivering on players’ expectations for its fascinating world and immersive narrative, the game has reached high levels of viewership and engagement on Twitch and YouTube that surpass any Ubisoft game launch to date.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had this to say on the new achievement: “we are humbled by the reception from the players and extremely proud of what our teams have accomplished with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which builds on the amazing success of its predecessors. In the context of COVID-19, shipping Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on no less than seven platforms is an incredible achievement for all of the teams involved around the world.
“We are excited to greet players on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 with a game that unleashes the power of the new hardware. This paves the way for an exciting holiday, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla set to be one of this season’s biggest hits.” The press release continues on to reference the success of the launch is partly due to the introduction of RPG mechanics for the franchise. So typically, expect more to be imbedded in future installments.
Recently, Ubisoft Montreal elaborated on the post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The add-ons include two story expansions introducing new settings in both Ireland and Paris of the respected era. You can read the full report by heading here.
