Looking over these past few months since late spring, it was reported that the next Prince of Persia entry would be underway for an announcement in the near future. Derived from a recent domain registered by Ubisoft – through the same means as done for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – it was expected that the title would be receiving its own platform to show its face sooner or later.
That was then followed by a finding on a retailer in Guatemala which disclosed that the aforementioned project would actually be a remake for the series. While not providing much for a basis to determine where the reworking of the series will approach, it is left for fans to wait until more is spared. Not only that, but Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier also told that the announcement for the project would take place during today’s Ubisoft Forward presentation.
But even before the cat could officially be brought out of the bag, users uncovered the approaching announcement to be a remake for the titular Sands of Time entry from 2003. This then leading to the official reveal trailer which was showcased at the virtual show: which you can view in the video below:
“Embark on a journey as the Prince to prevent the powerful Sands of Time from falling into the hands of the treacherous Vizier,” the synopsis in the video’s description reads. “ Master the Sands of Time and use your dagger to control time itself. Fight cursed enemies and solve puzzles along the way.”
In addition to the evident graphical revamping for The Sands of Time Remake, Ubisoft also shares that the camera system has also be rebuilt to adapt to the standards we expect in current games today. Not only that, but there is even a new targeting system for users to task themselves in combat without being overwhelmed by the original gameplay users met during its initial release nearly two decades before.
To pander further to classic fans of the original Prince of Persia title, Ubisoft shares that voice actor Yuri Lowenthal will be reprising his role as the Prince in the approaching reworking of the game. While the game is listed for the current Xbox & PlayStation as well as PC, next-generation consoles can play the game via backwards compatibility. Howbeit, the firm momentarily listed both Stadia and Nintendo Switch before removing the post which suggests more versions are underway.

Ubisoft also went on to disclose that users when playing the game will also unlock the ability to play the original Prince of Persia entry which can be accessed later on in the title screen. “Unlock the original Prince of Persia® game (’92 Mac version) along your adventure and access it from the Main Menu whenever you want.”
