It is no secret that Sony is aiming to mint film/television adaptations for its vault of Sony Interactive Entertainment video game IPs. With the establishment of PlayStation Productions, we are starting to see the result of such with Uncharted already out and the first footage of HBO Max’s The Last of Us. In May this spring, a new breakthrough was made on the firm’s ambitions.
According to MST financial Senior Analyst David Gibson, more properties were to receive the same attention with Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and Gran Turismo all being adapted into each own respecting production. Even more is credible entertainment outlets corroborated the statement then which further established the story then.
This week, a new report from Deadline reveals those involved in the production for one of these shows. In that, Steve Blackman (Umbrella Academy) is to write and produce the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix series. Not only that, but Michelle Lovretta (Umbrella Academy, Kill Joys) is also being attached as a co-showrunner for the new TV series.
“Horizon Zero Dawn and Orbital are elevated, event-level projects grounded in characters that fans will love and relate to, which are hallmarks of Irish Cowboy productions. We’re thrilled to be working with Netflix and all of our partners on developing these ground-breaking stories,” Blackman made in a statement.
Additionally, Abbey Morris (The Killing, American Odyssey, The Comedians) will pose as executive producer for the upcoming production on behalf of Fabrik Entertainment.PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan (Uncharted, The Last of Us), Guerrilla Games’ Jan-Bart van Beek and Ben McCaw, alongside Vertigo Entertainments’ Roy Lee (Godzilla vs. Kong, It Chapter 2) and Matthew Ball also executive producers.
