For those that might recall back in 2020, one of the most anticipated announcements showcasing the Xbox Series X ahead of the next-generation transition at the time was Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Although fans of the original Bloodlines title waited over a decade for a follow-up, many did not anticipate the turn the series would be heading in.
In February 2021, Paradox Interactive revealed developer Hardsuit Labs would be pulled from development as the upcoming sequel would instead be pushed indefinitely; squandering the 2022 release window. Since then, little has been shared on the project, but, other installments of the series arrived. Most recent is Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice arriving for virtual reality.
Earlier in September, Paradox Interactive revealed that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is returning finally with The Chinese Room now helming development. You can watch the new announcement trailer in the video below:
“Our silence on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is over. Today at PAX West, we announced that Bloodlines 2 will release Fall 2024 and The Chinese Room (TCR) is the studio bringing this sequel to life. TCR joined the project in January 2021 and we were immediately blown-away by their storytelling and design innovation. Since then they’ve surpassed all of our expectations and developed a Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines video game worthy of the 2020s.
“In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 both long-standing fans and the newly-embraced will play the central role in deciding Seattle’s future in an action-RPG set amid a three-front siege on the City. The old meets the new in a struggle for Seattle; will the most ruthless win, or is the third actor playing for an entirely different prize?” Paradox Interactive writes.
“For the first time in a Vampire: The Masquerade video game, players will take on the role of an elder vampire. The game has been in development for almost three years at TCR and we’re now ready to begin sharing more about what we’ve spent those years working on. In the months leading up to the New Year we’ll reveal the playable clans and dive deeper into their game-experience through the early months of 2024.”
