The release of Super Mario Maker 2 back in July introduced a new way for players to experience the simplistic formula of Nintendo’s mascot franchise with players & even the developer themselves crafting new levels with a wide range of obstacles added to the medium throughout the course of the series’ arrival roughly three decades ago. Now that users have settled with the bevy of things to do already, Nintendo has more planned for the game.
Announcing the Version 2 Update, this new download client offers a slew of different game-changing elements that only continues to mix the pot of diverse level building. Such as Spike who will throw iron-spiked balls at you which varies depending on the generation the level is set on. However, setting the game to the snow setting will change his projectiles to snow which you can throw. Pokey is another enemy sprite that adds to the game as the character stands tall against you and can be knocked down with fireballs. Or Yoshi can eat the character as you see in the video. Pokey can also transform into a snowman in the snow setting or can fly during the night time levels.
The addition of the frozen coin will add another layer to puzzle solving as players will have to find different ways to melt the block when in the way. Through traditional fireballs, firebar, or angry sun will do the trick. The P Block will also be another puzzling tool as players will have to press the titular switch to turn the transparent blocks solid. This will provide users some creative ways for how the level will progress when playing.
Exclusive to the Super Mario 3D World Game Style is the Dash Block: being self-explanatory, allows players to move and even jump faster when interacting with the block. But the original Super Mario Game Style will also receive a unique addition too, The Legend of Zelda’s hero Link. Upon obtaining a Master Sword in the game will transform the player into the green-hooded protagonist.
Like so, players will have the ability to attack with the sword, block using his shield, shoot with the bow & arrow to both attack and collect coins, and use bombs to get past impassible blocks. Using the sword will have some other hostile variants like dash attack and the down thrust to mix how players will need to play in certain circumstances. The Version 2 Update is available starting today!
