Vicarious Visions Is Reportedly Helming A New Project To Remake Diablo II

This week, one report emerged which looked to shake the video game industry by surprise. In that, it was revealed that Vicarious Visions (Crash Bandicoot N’ Sane Trilogy, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2) will be merged into Blizzard Entertainment. While the team is an associated studio within Activision Blizzard, the discover reveals that the firm will now be prioritizing any new ambitions coming out of the World of Warcraft firm.

“[Vicarious Visions to be] fully dedicated to existing Blizzard games and initiatives,” a representative of Blizzard issued to gamesindustry.biz in the report. Essentially, projects that Vicarious Visions planned to pursue will now be handled by another developer as the Albany, New York team is not leading future unannounced projects already underway.

But, it seems that the team’s gift to reimagine classic game titles for the modern era might not be part of the past after all. According to a report coming from Bloomberg on the team’s news this week, Vicarious Visions is said to pursue a well-recognized Blizzard Entertainment release, Diablo II.

For Vicarious Visions respectively, the developer is said to already be involved with projects associated with Blizzard Entertainment’s Team 3. The divided studio is most associated with the coming Diablo IV. However, the report inserts that Team 3 is also responsible for an off the record remake for Diablo II. But there is more history to the new learning.

It is told that Team 1, most known for its release of Warcraft III: Reforged, initially helmed the Diablo II remake. However, Team 3 was later handed the task during the course of last year as Team 1 either moved employees or were let go by Activision since dissolving the development group. The discovery does suit Vicarious Visions and the studio’s track record is certainly enough to warrant the team’s involvement for the new project.

Do you welcome the idea of Vicarious Visions working on a Diablo II remake?
