Warner Bros. Shares Its Focus For Gaming Centers Around DC Comics, Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, And Game Of Thrones

The Warner Bros. Games/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment division has remained in a peculiar position for the past year. While although shipping Hogwarts Legacy with major success, it also was hit hard with release Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. But there is one thing certain from Warner Bros. on the matter: gaming remains a major focus for the firm.

Previously, it was reported that the publisher was shopping around the idea to sell its in-house studios. But, a separate report went on to indicate that licensing to other teams might be a more viable option for new plans. Another; Warner Bros. Discovery also insisted that its venture into live-service will continue to be practiced with other titles as well.

According to the most recent earnings call for Warner Bros. Discovery, it is apparent that gaming is still a focal point for the firm currently. More specifically, it was mentioned that select franchises are to remain the core drive for new games from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment moving forward.

“We’re through some of the worst — and it hasn’t been pretty on the gaming business — but we have four games that are really powerful and have a real constituency that love them, and we’re going to focus on those four primarily,” CEO David Zalsav explained in the earnings call; thanks IGN for transcribing.

“We’re going to go away from trying to launch 10, 12, 15, 20 different games. I think we have a real chance now with focus to have the gaming business be steadier. We have four strong and profitable game franchises with loyal, global fans: Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, and DC in particular Batman. We are focusing our development efforts on those core franchises, with proven studios to improve our success ratio”

This is certainly a clear route for the publisher as of late. In that, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad confirmed that plans are already moving forward at Avalanche Software on the next Hogwarts Legacy game. You can read the full report by heading here.
