Developer Dotemu in recent time has established itself to revive beloved, nostalgic titles of the 90s. Its most recent venture happened to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge. From our review we wrote: “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge is far more than a nostalgia trip. Tribute Games attention to detail, additional characters and just combat depth have modernized a classic.”
Around the same time, Dotemu previously welcomed a new owner with the acquisition handed by Focus Home Interactive; now Focus Entertainment. Following, the firm went on to ship another throwback follow-up with Windjammers 2 – the official sequel to the 1994 arcade cabinet title from Data East.
In a new announcement this week, a fresh update went live on Windjammers 2 offering new characters and modes along with online & cross-play functionality. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“We wanted to take the time necessary to review all feedback collected since the game launch to answer the problems raised with concrete solutions. It took more time than expected, we did encounter difficulties but we never gave up on what players were asking and needed to enjoy the game to the fullest,” Dotemu writes in a message to its players.
“Based on player feedback received when Windjammers 2 launched last year, we decided to add two new modes: Lessons and Practice, to help all players get started with Windjammers 2 mechanics. […] The incredible development team behind Windjammers 2 also decided to work on highly requested online features that we’re proud to announce: Lobbies and full Crossplay are making their debut in Windjammers 2.”
