X019: Kingdom Hearts Saga Announced For Xbox One, Coming Next Year

It came as a big surprise when Microsoft featured the then-coming Kingdom Hearts III at the company’s annual E3 presentation last year, especially seeing that the series has not touched the Xbox platform since the first installment in 2002, the announcement could be a first for many on Xbox One. However, with the third in the series releasing on Xbox, that leaves the question for prior releases also.

During today’s X019 Inside Xbox livestream, Microsoft announced in collaboration with Square Enix that some of the classic titles for the Kingdom Hearts series will be making its way to Xbox One. Revealing that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will be arriving sometime next year.

In the first upcoming compilation coming to Xbox, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix which includes the final mix of the first and second installments of the series; it also provides the 2004 Gameboy title Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, the following Nintendo DS titles Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. Most importantly is the addition of the Kingdom Hearts Birth prequel that is included which tells the story before Sora’s journey in the first game.

Moving on to Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue offers Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep, and “Kingdom Hearts Back Cover”. The two mentions are stories following the titles featured in the previous compilation, but the last Back Cover is a full-length film which expands on the backstory surrounding the Keyblade.
