This fall alone, Microsoft continues to ship out quite a few controller options for players to get their hands on. So far, there is the limited edition Forza Horizon 5 paddle, Xbox 20th Anniversary gamepad, and the Master Chief Xbox Elite 2 Controller as well. However, there are certainly more options to choose from online with previous additions.
But this past summer, Microsoft went on to re-introduce a beloved program for users that want a more creative approach to their controller – Xbox Design Lab. Now for Xbox Series X|S controllers, players can customize the gamepad alike with the previous version. But, the later added customization options were not included in the return of the service.
However, Microsoft this month announced that the previous features will return to Xbox Design Lab for the newer devices.
Earlier this year we brought back Xbox Design Lab, our customization program that offers different ways to create your own personalized Xbox Wireless Controller. Since then, the community has created hundreds of thousands of unique designs tailored to their personality and style.
We’re excited to announce that rubberized grips and metallic finishes are returning to Xbox Design Lab along with new color customization options, giving you even more combinations to choose from.

In detail for the customization options added, rubberized grips and metallic finishes are now back. The grips can be applied to the sides and back of the controller. Microsoft tells 19 metallic finish options are also available with its return. Dragonfly Blue, Nocturnal Green, and Velocity Green are new palette options for the service also.
From this week’s Xbox Anniversary livestream, Microsoft shared that the history of the platform is worth retelling and how the platform came to be. The firm is to air a six-part documentary ‘Power On: The Story of Xbox’ next month in December. You can read the full report by heading here.
