One of the biggest complaints regarding Xbox Game Studios and the overall platform is how Microsoft delivers its first-party games. Moving forward, the Xbox firm has pressed it plans to extensively evaluate its new titles after the launch of Redfall this past May to limit the issues out of the box. Additionally, it was also confirmed in an interview with IGN that Xbox’s plan is more than an aspiration to ship four games each fiscal year, boss Phil Spencer told.
In regards to bettering Xbox Game Studios projects, Gears developer The Coalition has formed a new Xbox Games Technology Group which acts as an in-house support division solely for Xbox Game Studios titles. Of course, this plays in part with previous statements as the 2024 lineup from the Xbox firm is looking to be the most stacked in years.
From a new Microsoft Game Dev fireside chat during Gamescom, it is revealed that Xbox Game Studios is already busy with roughly a dozen, possibly more, titles currently. You can watch the segment of the conversation in the video below:
“We’re talking about a lot of different focus areas – so there are quite a bit of different projects we’re working on right now, over a dozen games that we are currently working on,” Xbox Game Studios director of live game operations Cristin Cox says. “And I would say one of the things that we feel very strongly about as a publisher is that every single one of those projects is totally unique and we approach them in a very bespoke way.
“So- we are product focused in our team and each one of the game’s we’re publishing actually has a dedicated product team on our side just works on that game. And they have a deep partnership with their developer and each one of those teams look very different cause it really depends on what that developer needs and what that developer is focusing on and what that game needs and what we think is gonna help them succeed the most.’
Already, we’ve seen this with manifested with the ongoing Xbox Cloud Gaming recruiting Kojima Productions for a new project. Under the publishing banner solely for the cloud streaming initiative has offered resources to deliver the game the studio wants to make. Previously, Kojima told that Microsoft “showed that they understood” his vision to take on the partnership. You can read the full report by heading here.
