Today, Larry Hryb also known as Xbox Live’s Major Nelson announced on Twitter he’ll be stepping back after twenty years. Since the early days of Xbox 360, fans around the world and different generations have seen Larry on the Xbox Dashboard or anywhere on social media.
Larry thanks the millions of players around the world for the support they’ve given him during his time at Xbox.
“After 20 incredible years, I have decided to take a step back and work on the next chapter of my career. As I take a moment and think about all we have done together, I want to thank the millions of gamers around the world who have included me as part of their lives.”
If you’ve been following Xbox for the last twenty years you might have noticed the Major’s Minute where he would cover what’s new or talk to developers within the Microsoft Game Studios. Larry would also be involved with E3 pre-shows, unboxing of new products and doing the official Xbox Podcast.
When the the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition was revealed, Larry did the white glove unboxing which became iconic with fans.
Xbox Live’s Major Nelson was an icon for the brand and it’ll be a strange sight to see him not with the company anymore. As for what’s next, Larry says he’s just trying to enjoy his time off enjoying the Seattle Summer.
Q: What's next? Going take some time to spend time with my family (no really!) and enjoy the Seattle Summer. As many of you know, I never really took time off….so now I will take that opportunity.
