Xenoblade Chronicle X For Switch Isn’t Likely To Happen

There’s been a list of last gen Wii U titles that have been making their way to the Nintendo Switch like Bayonetta 2 and more recently with New Super Mario Bros. U. Assuming that the this list won’t hold back until all of the fan favorite titles from the underwhelming platform are ported over to the Switch, but that doesn’t seem to be the case as of recently.

In an interview from USGamer, the outlet chatted with Tetsuya Takahashi, studio Head of Monolith Soft about Xenoblade and what holds in the future for the franchise. When the question came up about the Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X coming to the Switch, he had an unfortunate response for those hoping to see it return this generation. Takahashi stating that:

“the future at present is unclear”, in response to the question. “Personally speaking, I’d love to play the game on the Switch, but it would be really difficult to make it.”

The Monolith Chief added on that the main reason for why we won’t see the game ported over is due to the budget t make it happen. “It’s a massive game. Re-creating it would be really difficult”. As of yet this is the current status for the 2015 title, but there’s still hope to see the well received title make its way to the Nintendo Switch.

As we are already aware of from Nintendo, nearly anything can change or happen when looking at previous announcements like Ridley’s debut for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Bethesda’s Doom coming to the hybrid platform. Though the chances look unlikely, there’s still the slightest possibility we can see this happen at some point in the future.

The latest title from Monolith Soft, Xenoblades Chronicles 2 for the Nintendo Switch is available now.
