Yakuza 7: Like A Dragon Gets November 13 Release Date, PlayStation 5 Users To Receive Upgrade Version At A Later Date

The release for the Yakuza series in the west has been nothing more than a treat from Sega with the ambitions for the line of titles to be centered on its Japanese demographic. But thankfully, the game was malleable to receive English localization later on. Additionally, the series even went the lengths break its exclusive ties on PlayStation as the franchise then began to appear on both PC as well as Xbox.

Now in anticipation of the recent listings for the game in North America and Europe, Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon will officially be arriving to supported platforms later this fall, Sega announces. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

Dissected directly from the footage, the first thing you can pick up is that this new installment will feature English voice acting for the first time since the first entry for the series. Previously, English-speaking players resorted to subtitles to understand the story from RGG Studio. With the game’s cast primarily filled with fresh faces, this might be a change some players would not get a bad taste in their mouth from. However, the same might not be said for some reoccurring characters that enter the scene.

“Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, faces an 18-year prison sentence after taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit,” the overview for the game’s story shares on Steam. “Never losing faith, he loyally serves his time and returns to society to discover that no one was waiting for him on the outside, and his clan has been destroyed by the man he respected most.”

“Ichiban sets out to discover the truth behind his family’s betrayal and take his life back, drawing a ragtag group of society’s outcasts to his side: Adachi, a rogue cop, Nanba, a homeless ex-nurse, and Saeko, a hostess on a mission. Together, they are drawn into a conflict brewing beneath the surface in Yokohama and must rise to become the heroes they never expected to be.”

In addition to the official western reveal for Yakuza 7, Sega also clarifies on the enigma surrounding the PlayStation 5 version of the game. In that, the publisher discloses that users can find an upgrade for the next-generation version later on. The aforementioned upgrade was not disclosed to be free or a version available for purchase at the time of the announcement.
