Zombie Army Trilogy, Oh how you surprised me. For those of you who do not know, Zombie Army Trilogy was originally a DLC that came out for Sniper Elite Named Nazi Zombie Army. Zombie Army Trilogy is based on the era when Hitler was the ruler and dictator of Germany, but his plans of winning failed, so he released “Plan Z” which is self-explanatory to what the “Z” Stands for. In an attempt to rule the world with his new power, all hell breaks loose and it’s up to you and you’re companions to save the day.
My initial thoughts coming into ZAT was it was just gonna be a mini DLC revamped and turned into a game, but I was mistaken. Zombie Army Trilogy has been the only game I have played in months that I poured hours and hours into just playing because I didn’t care what else was going on. The 15 Missions (3 Chapters) All Tie together perfectly, and they seem to work out nicely. The campaign is a must-play, the amount of scares, creepy, and chilling moments that you experience will not let you down. The game has a perfect mixture of shooter, horror, and adventure. The game is a 1-4 Player CO-OP which makes the game much better. Playing ZAT alone is fun, playing it with friends is always better, more zombies, and more firepower, and you and your friends get to experience the thrills together.
The campaign might be offensive to a certain audience because of all the satanic marks, swastikas, and other symbols found throughout the game but since it’s based in the time and era of Hitler, it fits the game nicely. The action camera where there is a random chance it will follow the bullet as it pierces the body of the living dead is a nice feature and it’s a very satisfying feeling watching a bullet pierce the dead that can take your life at any moment. The difficulty of the game is based on what you prefer, you can play the game where you have no bullet drop and ammo is everywhere, or with a bullet drop and very scarce ammo scattered through the maps can add a challenge that’s worth giving a try, On top of that there is a zombie count modifier where you can add the number of zombies you want to spawn instead of having 1 player worth of zombies you can double, triple, even quadruple the amount. If slaying the living dead with WW2 Era-ed rifles, pistols, submachine guns, and shotguns is your thing then this campaign is what you need.
So you finished the campaign but not sure if it has any play ability left, well that’s where Horde Mode comes into play. With horde mode, you can fend off waves of zombies solo, or with 3 other people for the perfect 4 person CO-OP Feel. I spent hours in horde mode playing it non-stop enjoying the feeling of killing off zombies in a beautiful 3rd person view with friends trying to beat our previous highest wave, fighting for the highest score. The community that plays ZAT has been very nice to me so far, being very helpful and giving me tips they picked up and everyone is sharing strategies to tackle these waves of zombies. A younger individual joined a horde mode game I was in and he asked for help, me and my partners tried to explain it to our best abilities and defend him as he learned, and that’s how a community should be. My experience with the online part of ZAT has been great so far, and I hope to see it stay this way in the future. The game engine holds fairly well for what it is, I haven’t experienced terrible lag of course there is some hit detection issues when it lags but it does hold up and runs nicely nonetheless.
So you are not sure if it’s worth getting Zombie Army Trilogy? Maybe you need to see some gameplay of the game? I got you covered with some horde gameplay I got with 3 other people well we fight our way through waves 9 and 10 in the smallest possible map we can choose. Hopefully, this gameplay will show you that with teamwork, a lot of firepower, and some communication you can have fun winning or losing.
In the end, Zombie Army Trilogy is a horde mode with 15 missions so, which is very good and has a lot of playability, but it’s not gonna be for everyone. It’s a mixture of Nazi Zombies from Call of Duty, with a DayZ-like feel because of the 3rd person fending off zombies for survival. I strongly believe they have a lot of potential to make another zombie-based game and it will be a hit. Maybe we will see a sequel of some sort or some add-ons for the game. Zombie Army Trilogy gets a strong and well-deserved score of 8/10.
