From developer Rebellion, most notable for the Sniper Elite series, shipped its latest entry back in 2022 with Sniper Elite 5. “The Sniper Elite series is one of my personal favorites, and Sniper Elite 5 completely fills a void left behind with the lack of any relevant Metal Gear or Splinter Cell for the current generation,” we wrote in our review for the game then.
Additionally, the game studio is also responsible for the Zombie Army series too. In our review for Zombie Army 4: Dead War, we wrote: “Zombie Army 4: Dead War’s fun coop and well designed campaign elevates the franchise beyond being a mere spin-off. The Sniper Elite series is one of my personal favorites, and it’s nice seeing them take what was a spin-off series and elevate it much more ambitious heights.”
This week, Rebellion announces that the Zombie Army series is to tread into virtual reality with a planned release for later in 2024. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“Following the story of the Zombie Army series, in Zombie Army VR you return to the field as one of the Deadhunters, an elite squad that is hunting down zombie war criminals,” the synopsis for the game reads. “Fight your way through undead hordes near the bombed-out city of Nuremberg and help Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunter’s legendary leader, find his scattered family and fight to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse.”
For those interested, we urge you read up on our review for Sniper Elite VR. “In the end, Sniper Elite VR is a nice shooter and worthy of the series it came from. Maybe we will see a sequel of some sort, because as a first shot, this VR experience has far more ups than downs.” You can read the full piece by heading here.
