1047 Games is preparing for its major release of Splitgate 2 later this year. The game is going into an Open Beta starting May 22 that will feature more modes, maps, weapons, and more. It’ll also be cross-play. Today, the developer revealed The Lab, a new map creator for Splitgate 2 inspired by Halo’s Forge mode.
The Lab allows anyone to jump in and design custom maps and modes with no experience needed. It’s made for experienced map creators or for those that never created a map before.
Up to 16 players can play in The Lab, and you can easily share your creation with players around the world. The developer provided a variety of blank canvas templates to begin with, including scalable geometric shapes, prefab’d map items, environmental props, and other gameplay objects.
The Lab will be available in the Open Beta for Splitgate 2 on May 22 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
At PAX East 2025, we interviewed 1047 Games’ CEO Ian Proulx about Splitgate 2. He answered questions about a possible Campaign mode and the idea of releasing the game on Switch 2.
