Popularity of video game-influenced films continue to grow as players further witness the industry evolve into the topping platform for entertainment. And while interactive titles continue to also evolve in their own respects, the films however, cannot be said the same for. Although given the matter that Sonic the Hedgehog has proven to say otherwise following its success this year, it is unsure if other productions can follow suit.
In that, many are eyeing what other movies have the potential to reinvent the cinema plague that are video game movies. Among the long list of upcoming motion pictures, Mojang Studio’s Minecraft is still in the process of receiving its own full-length film. Last April, the developer disclosed that fans can anticipate the production to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
But coming from a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, that is not the case anymore. Well actually, it is unsure now when the project is arriving thanks to a handful of other films being shifted around. Most notably, Matt Reeves’ The Batman is now arriving to the initial March date for the Minecraft film in 2022.
Additionally, this leaves the production to be out of the picture for the time being, the publication shares. “The video game adaptation Minecraft is exiting its March 4, 2022, date and is now undated,” The Hollywood Reporter discloses. Among the latter productions, DC films such as The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Black Adam are all being rescheduled also.
This is certainly not the first time that a video game adapted film is being shifted around ahead of its box office release. In January, The Hollywood Reporter also shared that Tom Holland’s Uncharted movie would be ushered to a 2021 release from its initial December 22 date set for this year.
