After Confusion Online, Bethesda Confirms Starfield Will Ship Physical Copies For Standard Edition

For Microsoft, the support of physical media has been put into question over the past console cycle. While many titles featured tangible copies in retailers at brick-and-mortar locations & online, there has been a shift towards digital content overall. But, this began to affect media for its first-party releases when it was discovered Halo 5: Guardians would roll out a Collector’s Edition that included a steelbook with only a digital code.

Transitioning to the Xbox Series generation now, there is roughly a handful of titles with no physical release: Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and GhostWire: Tokyo are part of the growing number of games only available through digital means. More recently, it was suspected that the same fate would be met for Redfall, but it was later confirmed that the physical versions will include a disc copy for the game.

The same suspicions erupted for Starfield after confusion surfaced online. It was again verified from Spanish Bethesda Twitter account that Starfield will be available on physical media for its Standard Edition.

Noted, this is ensured for regular copies of the game. During the initial statement of the post, Bethesda also revealed the Constellation Edition of the game. With it features a ‘constellation’ smart watch, steelbook, Premium Edition Upgrade, and a digital code for the game. It is likely that users misconstrued this information with the overall game.

Furthermore, this does not conclude users chasing after the steelbook will be bound to a digital copy of Starfield. In fact, you can obtain it and still keep the physical game. For retailers like GameStop, you can purchase the Premium Edition Upgrade which will add on to the standard pre-order of the game. You can read the full report by heading here.
