The current head space at Microsoft is for more of its titles to ship on platforms outside of its own. And 2025 is only enforcing this philosophy moving forward. Already, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle alongside Doom: The Dark Ages were already confirmed for this previously. Recently, developer Playground Games has announced Forza Horizon 5 is coming later this spring to PlayStation 5 too.
And, it certainly will not end there. In one interview with Destin Legarie, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has expressed that there is no definitive line that withholds an Xbox IP to be on other consoles. “there’s no reason for me to put a ring fence around any game and say, ‘this game will not go to a place’; […] What we find is we’re able to drive a better business that allows us to invest in a great game lineup like you saw and that’s our strategy.”
Now this week, developer World’s Edge announced that Age of Mythology: Retold is the next of this plan to ship its title on PlayStation 5. Simultaneously, new DLC ‘Infinite Pillars’ will also release upon the launch of the new console port. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“Age of Mythology: Retold will expand into new myths, new cultures, and welcome new players alongside the Immortal Pillars expansion release. We will welcome PlayStation 5 players to adventure with Arkantos, choose their pantheon, and fight for divine blessings with all the same content available in the Xbox and PC versions. PlayStation 5 players will also be able to purchase Immortal Pillars, and expand their Age of Mythology: Retold experience with the all-new Chinese pantheon. ”
