For the majority of Star Wars-published titles, the game stand under the shadow of Electronic Arts. But, the game publisher is not the direct owner of the licenses for the projects – Lucasfilms is. Previous to the deal between the two firms which kicked off almost a decade ago, Lucasfilms developed its own games and distributed it through now-closed, Lucasarts. But since then, there has yet to be a new entity to fill that void.

But now in a new blog post published by Lucasfilms on Monday, there is a new body that released and coming Star Wars games will abide by: Lucasfilms Games. While Lucasfilms predates to decades of Star Wars released titles, this is only a new chapter for the firm looking forward.

You can watch the new ‘Lucasfilms Games Sizzle’ trailer in the video below:

“StarWars.com is thrilled to reveal that Lucasfilm Games is now the official identity for all gaming titles from Lucasfilm, a name that encompasses the company’s rich catalog of video games and its eye toward the future,” the firm writes in the blog post.

“Lucasfilm’s legacy in gaming stretches back decades. And with Lucasfilm and the galaxy far, far away entering a new and unprecedented phase of creativity, so will the world of Lucasfilm Games — developed in collaboration with the finest studios across the industry.”

Similarly, we witnessed the same being handled for the Harry Potter universe in regards to video games previously. In that, Warner Bros established Portkey Games which would handle licensed projects on the way such as mobile AR title Wizards Unite and the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy RPG scheduled to release in 2021.
