For nearly the past five years, fans of the Fallout franchise have counted the days to release for the inspired television series set to air on Amazon Prime Video. And now this week it is set to officially air. With a stacked cast including Walton Goggins (Django Unchained, Justified), Ella Purnell (Kick-Ass 2, Yellowjackets), and Kyle MacLachlan (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks), fans are expecting a film of premium television over this Fallout project. 

One of the largest takes from the details unraveling for the Fallout TV series is the setting. In the leading up to the show, Amazon & Bethesda confirmed the new show will be exploring the wastes of Los Angeles after the bombs drop. Even more, the story is interconnected with the games. In a separate interview, Todd Howard confirmed the show is also connected to the games canonically.

According to a new report from Variety, Fallout is already in the path for a second season with days still remaining for the airing of the show. This information was uncovered via The California Film Commission which awarded multiple production firms tax incentives on several projects. One being Amazon’s Fallout that faced $25 million in California tax credit.

Noted however, this is one gesture to the chances of a Season 2 being likely. It does not wholly confirm another set of episodes are in the works just yet. Of course, the biggest concern is how successful Fallout will be. Despite the anticipation & fixed number of viewers from an established fanbase, there is still the chance the show could undershoot expectations.

When speaking to Collider, showrunner Graham Wagner acknowledges that Amazon has final say on more of the series. “It is a big show, and it is a big investment. I think Amazon wants to be absolutely sure they want to make a second season before they pay for it all because it’s an undertaking.”
