Looking back to the beginning of the past decade, developer Frictional Games stood to be a prominent team in the horror game genre with the release of Amnesia: Dark Descent. The game became an influential entry via online walkthrough commentators and live streamers at the time and still holds its value for those that play it currently. While the series received a second installment in 2013 with Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, the game was developed by The Chinese Room as Frictional Games stood as the publisher for the follow-up.
Howbeit, the game was followed by a draught as a new entry has yet to arrive since the release of the second game. The time extending past the wait time for A Machine for Pigs by two-fold, it is certainly overdue for the series to make a comeback. It wasn’t until December last year that Frictional Games resurfaced to tease a new entry is on the way for the series with a domain also appearing.
Now today, a trailer has been uploaded for the aforementioned title learning that it is Amnesia: Rebirth. With the new footage, it reveals the title will be shipping ahead of Halloween next month. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“You are Tasi Trianon, waking up deep in the desert of Algeria. Days have passed. Where have you been? What did you do? Where are the others?,” the overview reads on the game’s Epic Games Store page. “Retrace your journey, pull together the fragments of your shattered past; it is your only chance to survive the pitiless horror that threatens to devour you.
“Time is against you. Step into Tasi’s shoes and guide her through her personal terror and pain. While you struggle to make your way through a desolate landscape, you must also struggle with your own hopes, fears, and bitter regrets. And still you must continue, step by step, knowing that if you fail you will lose everything.”
Unlike its predecessors, Amnesia: Rebirth will not be releasing on Valve-owned Steam. Instead, the game will be arriving uniquely to the Epic Games Store later next month. As of writing, it is uncertain if this will be a timed agreement with Epic Games and Fractional Games or if it is a permanent deal for the coming game.

Amnesia: Rebirth is arriving on October 20, 2020 for PC.
