With rumors going around that Anthem was set to be released in 2019 from the original release of Spring 2018, EA has officially came out to reveal that the delay will be taking affect for their upcoming Bioware title.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, it was officially announced that the game will take another year to fully release. But to EA, it is not a delay. And also denying the report from Kotaku that the cause of this is due to development troubles. But instead shifting the release date to better schedule their games launching. Stated by Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen:
It’s not a delay. People are trying to create a story.
Possibly resulting with how Battlefield 1 bested Fall 2016 as both that and Titanfall 2 released weeks apart. With an unclear reason for why the game needed to push their release besides title colliding, some can say is to fix the elephant in the room recently with EA. To fix the on going problem they had with microtransaction taking over their title recently with games like Star Wars: Battlefront II and Need For Speed: Payback.
With Anthem being announced less than a year ago and not much showcased since the initial announcement since then, there’s not much to go off for the game’s future until EA releases a clearer statement. A new unannounced Battlefield game will be taking the fall release slot for 2018.
