Arguably the biggest title for the first half of 2019 is Apex Legends. Yesterday during a conference call, EA announced that the latest popular battle royale title will be coming to mobile devices. There wasn’t a specific release date when it would come to iOS and Android devices, but it should be soon.
Other notes taken from this call was that Apex Legends is Electronic Arts’ fastest growing game with over 50 million players. While 30% of Apex players are new to EA. The company is aiming to release the game on more platforms and in new markets. EA is focused on delivering new content with long term service and obviously adding new legends & weapons.
Now, with EA wanting to add Apex onto other platforms the first that comes to many fans minds is the Nintendo Switch. We haven’t seen the support that many would expect when it comes to the publisher’s support for the hybrid console, but it’s entirely possible it could come. Respawn has done an incredible job with Apex Legends as it did beat Fortnite records in a matter of a couple weeks.
Another situation to look out for with Apex Legends is its potential for esports as we’ve seen with PUBG and Fortnite. Both of those games have had a great ride with competitive gaming and it’s no question Apex would be a great fit.
