For the progression of Respawn Entertainment and its connected universe, the initial Titanfall IP is on hold while Apex Legends continues to thrive. Although the core gameplay is refined most well in comparison to the competition of first-person shooters, the storyline imbedded within is just as detailed or even more connecting now two IPs into one. Of course, with new content also brings new details that continues the timeline for the pair.
Even Respawn leadership acknowledges the amount of substance for the game does spark interest in a pursuit for a Netflix series later on. However, game director Chad Grenier noted to be focused on resuming efforts for the game before branching to other mediums altogether. Most recently, Rampart received some spotlight with the ‘Evolution Collection Event’ this past couple of weeks and more starts this week.
On Tuesday, Respawn Entertainment announced that the story for Apex Legends will branch further with the new ‘Apex Chronicles’ series that is to take place in-game. On September 29th, ‘Old Ways, New Dawn’ kicks off as players who helm Bloodhound will have to go in search for a white crow to initiate the lore mission.
“During this event, players who choose Bloodhound will be given the chance to go on an adventure. The journey follows Bloodhound as they try to save an injured prowler and deal with the guilt over their crumbling home world and past failures,” Respawn Entertainment writes for the overview of the new addition.
As noted, Apex Legends continues what Titanfall started. However, the series is not gone for good. Despite reports of the IP essentially stranded from continuing, Respawn Entertainment commented that the statements are simply not true. You can read the full report by heading here.
