Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20, 2025, and while the game seemed to have faced some backlash, it has received positive reactions. In just one day, Shadows reached over 1 million players across PS5, Xbox, and PC.
Since its release, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has reached over 3 million players. While actual sales numbers have not been shared yet, according to Mat Piscatella from Circana Retail Tracking Service, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was the best-selling game of the week in the United States.
The analyst also shares that Shadows already ranks among the top 5 best-selling games YTD in the United States.
Monster Hunter: Wilds, which was released in late February, only reached higher week-one dollar sales in 2025. This means Shadows has performed better than Civilization 7, Split Fiction, and other big releases.
In our review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we scored the game an 8.5 as it “successfully revitalizes the franchise by introducing a compelling setting, well-developed characters, and innovative gameplay mechanics. Its blend of action, stealth, and cultural immersion offers a rich and engaging experience that both honors the series’ roots and pushes its boundaries.”
