Dating back to the 2018 Game Awards, developer BioWare unveiled that the team is currently working on the next Dragon Age installment. Howbeit, following more than a year since its inception, little to no detail on the current project has been spared by the team. But that is not to say the firm has checked up on its player base.

Back in July of this year, Executive Producer Mike Darrah shared on Twitter that the current entry is currently being worked on. Taken that the COVID-19 pandemic is still in effect, the studio is still divided working at home. But thankfully, Darrah does elaborate by sharing that there is well made progress being recorded on the time that BioWare has been working on the title since adopting work-from-home ethics.

Now during the Gamescom Opening Night Live, BioWare shares a behind the scenes look at the project and discuss some of the elements that can be expected for the fourth installment of Dragon Age. For one, the game is told to still be in early development, but the team spares to be very ambitious on the game with next-generation technology being a frontrunner for larger scale projects. It is best told by Creative Director Matthew Goldman in the video offering an overview on what the new Dragon Age will provide when it arrives later on.

It’s got frontier stories, it’s got mystery, it’s got hardboiled detective stories, and of course it’s wrapped up in a kind of fantasy setting.

This is an original world; original flora; original wildlife; original architecture that makes it fun to explore and discover.

What can also be taken from the video is the amount of concept art and renders representing what players can expect in the full experience for the new Dragon Age game. It should be noted that everything provided in the video is only utilized as a basis and will not fully illustrate how the finished title will be. So only take what is featured nothing more than the foundation for the next entry.

Reiterating on what was already stated, there is still plenty of progress to be made. Gatehred that the project is still in early development, it does logical that the team is still not prepared to provide the official titling for the next installment. But BioWare does emphasize signing-up for the update queue on the Dragon Age website.

What are you most intrigued from the new look for the next Dragon Age?
