As time for this year continues to dwindle right behind the still occurring COVID-19 epidemic plaguing the world, gaming events are looking to alternatives to remain intact and disperse the new batch of details regarding upcoming titles. Most recently, organization Penny Arcade just finished up on its in-house virtual show, PAX Online. Similar in structure, many groups are seeking to bring entertainment through digital means.
One firm being Blizzard Entertainment, where the developer shared to be withholding this year’s Blizzcon set to take place in November. Howbeit, the team at the time did share that the event while negating its in-person characteristic could be adoption an online persona for the coming show.
Now this week, Blizzard Entertainment has finally let the cat out of the bag to announce Blizzcon Online. Set to arrive this coming February next year, the show will run for two days across the internet that fans can tune in for.
While circumstances are keeping us from gathering in person this year, we’re putting together a little something early next year to channel the spirit of BlizzCon into the form of an online show. We still have a lot of planning to do, and it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more details—but we wanted to provide a heads-up on how you can be a part of the online fun.
Atop of the annual reveal showcase that is periodic for Blizzcon, Blizzard Entertainment is also hosting a parade of community events for fans to also engage in throughout the course of Blizzcon Online. Side events such as Art Contest, Cosplax Contest, Cosplay Exhibition, Digital Story Telling Contest, March of the Murlocks, and Talent Spotlight are all featured with deadlines to participate ending on January 4.
Reflecting on some of the bulk announcement of last year’s Blizzcon such as the unveiling for Overwatch 2, it is expected that Blizzard Entertainment will follow-up on the announcement since little detail has been spared since. You can read up on the full announcement by heading here.
