Just last month at the Microsoft press conference held in Los Angeles as part of the annual E3 event, Gearbox Software made an appearance to reveal that Borderlands 2 will be getting a new DLC that connects the gap between the 2012 first-person shooter and the approaching follow-up title that is releasing later this September. Most importantly for those who own Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will not have to worry about the price as the new content will be available to download for free.
But it seems that the DLC was only a given for a limited time as gaming outlet Thumbsticks reports that Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary will be free until this coming Monday. Sharing that those who have yet to pick up the connecting DLC will have until 12 AM PST / 3 AM EST on July 8th to download the content.
Following the deadline, those interested in picking up the new story missions will have to cough up $14.99 to fill in the gaps leading up to Borderlands 3. The DLC is also intended to give some context into how Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands plays into the coming third installment as the delisted series is canon for the upcoming game.
Recently, developer Gearbox revealed that among the different ways players can play to unlock loot and other in-game items, explains that lootboxes will not be offered to distribute more efficient loot. Though microtransactions are not completely clean from Borderlands 3, players will still have the option to purchase cosmetics for characters and weapons/vehicles.
Borderlands 2 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
