The Borderlands movie has officially hit the theaters as of August 9, 2024, and it’s off to a rough start from critics and most viewers. This is the first Borderlands film since the game series started in 2009 when it came to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Borderlands is directed by Eli Roth and stars Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jack Black as Claptrap, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, and Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina.
Borderlands Has Low Review Scores
On Rotten Tomatoes, Borderlands has received about 92 reviews, with a 10% rating so far. The Audience Score as it stands during the film’s first weekend is at 51%.
This wouldn’t be the first time that an adaptation of a beloved gaming franchise has received mostly negative reviews. Last year when Five Nights At Freddy’s hit theaters it sat at a 27% rating from critics however, true fans of the series thought differently. Five Nights At Freddy’s ended up doing very well and became the highest-grossing horror film of 2023.
Borderlands may have some of the Five Nights At Freddy’s treatment with there being a lot of mixed reviews. It might be enough to satisfy the hardcore fans of Borderlands.
Borderlands is another FNAF situation. Not a perfect adaptation, but there's more to complain about Knuckles than this.
Waited since seeing the 2020 announcement live, and I'm satisfied enough.https://t.co/WgncFh3Lu5 https://t.co/b1YHRmcI1L
