On Nintendo’s handhelds, Bravely Default has remained a staple for the platform. “Outside of the very repetitive structure for the story, and the combat heavy nature of the games core design, Bravely Default II is still a fantastic throwback. Rich story, great characters, top notch sound and visual design complement the intense and engrossing combat mechanics. An ode to the RPG’s of yesterday, while also moving them forward into the modern landscape in a big way,” our review for the sequel on Nintendo Switch said.
Other titles of the same vein also came to the platform. More recently with releases such as Triangle Strategy & Octopath Traveler II, there is plenty to explore. However, there was still hope that the original Nintendo 3DS release would be supported on newer hardware. In 2022, producer Tomoya Asano did hint that a new version could be on the way for the title.
