When it comes to Destiny 2, developer Bungie is preparing the 2017-released title as the game makes its leap for the next-generation consoles. Back in May of this year, the firm pressed on the matters by revealing that Destiny 2 will be hitting both the Xbox Series X and its counterpart, the PlayStation 5.

As presumed from the new advantage of better hardware, Destiny 2 will face an overhaul in the game’s performance alongside resolution which is currently targeting 1080p on current-generation hardware. It was not until later in June that Bungie confirmed cross-purchases will be supported on both systems alongside cross-play between the new and its preceding console.

Now in a new blog post surfacing today, the next-generation version is set to arrive in the beginning of December. Bungie in the post tells there will be noticeable differences in contrast to the versions supported from the current Xbox and PlayStation.

The next generation optimized version of Destiny 2 will launch on December 8. While things like faster load times and cross-generation play will be available on November 10, we’re taking some more time on the following enhancements to ensure a smooth experience when playing Destiny 2 on your new devices.

On a side note regarding the announcement, the developer also discloses there are some additional features unique to the new version of Destiny 2: that being the Field of View (FOV) slider being integrated for the new systems. Additionally, players can also find minimized load times on certain aspects of the game, but leaves a disclaimer for segments dependent on online connection.

Most noted is that cross-play will be enabled for console families. However, the feature will not bridge the lobbies between Xbox and PlayStation, but instead will link those on the old consoles with the new. Across all systems, Destiny 2 will provide users with 4K resolution and 60 frames per second; discarding the Xbox Series X which only offers 1080p.

What system are you getting Destiny 2 for on the new consoles?

Destiny 2 is arriving to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on December 8, 2020; out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
