Although 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard from developer Sledgehammer Games returns the franchise to its roots with yet another entry within the World War II era, the next entry underway for this year goes full circle with Modern Warfare II. More than a decade later, fan-favorite characters like Captain Price, Soad, and Ghost make a comeback in the rebooted series.
However, this new release is also making familiar choices alike the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 did a dozen years ago. In that, the game will be launching on Steam for the first time since series went to Battle.net. The choice to change storefronts plays in part with the Activision Blizzard merge that took place previously and 2022’s game shakes that up.
This week, Activision has announced its full schedule for the coming beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II when it kicks off next month in September. You can read the list below:
Weekend One PlayStation Exclusive

September 18-20: Open Beta | PlayStation

The Modern Warfare II Beta is set to feature a robust multiplayer experience going beyond the Core 6v6 experience with a variety of meticulously designed maps of various sizes, and an equally impressive set of Modes, Progression experiences, and other aspects that will be more thoroughly revealed at Call of Duty: Next,” the blog post reveals on the beta.
“In addition, at Champs we revealed a flythrough of Marina Bay Grand Prix, where combat occurs within the main infield of an urban race circuit, one of the 6v6 Multiplayer maps confirmed for the Beta. With a number of in-game rewards available for simply playing the Beta (that are available at the launch of MWII if you own the game), and a host of other innovations and surprises, expect an unparalleled intel drop at the Next event.”
Back in June, new information was revealed on the second Warzone in the making. In that, the new experience that will ship shortly after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is said to not include cross-progression and does not support current purchases in the first Warzone.
