What looked to be a greater chase for the truth for the majority of 2020 is the claims that tailed behind the alleged Resident Evil 8. Similar to its 2017-released predecessor, the coming installment would ship with the first-person perspective once again. But unlike the previous setting, Capcom would shift the setting to the mountainous and snow-covered plateau resident of Europe.

Now in a new reveal trailer during the recent PlayStation 5 showcase, Capcom officially unveiled Resident Evil 8: Village. Taken from the trailer alone, the rumors of before look to corroborate accurately which is reassuring since the same song has been playing on repeat for most of this year since the first rumor sprouted early on.

Taking place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, in which protagonist Ethan Winters traveled to Louisiana to search for his missing wife, Mia, Resident Evil Village sees the reunited Mia and Ethan living happily together and putting their shared nightmares of the Baker’s plantation house behind them.

Finally able to move on from those horrifying events, Ethan’s world suddenly comes crashing down once again when Chris Redfield, an unexpected yet familiar face makes an appearance, setting off a chain of events that sees a distraught Ethan seeking answers to Chris’s shocking actions… and ultimately finding him in a mysterious village.

It surely is reassuring to finally pull that band-aid as speculation continued to grow heavy and the excitement to see this in action became unbearable for many already-hooked fans following the ongoing claims. Especially after the recent revisit to Resident Evil 3 with its remake earlier in 2020, a mainline entry is what the series is due for now.

Elsewhere on Xbox Wire, Microsoft confirms that Capcom’s next flagship Resident Evil installment will also be arriving to Xbox Series X alongside the PlayStation 5 version next year.
