What might have felt like not so long ago only happened to be two weeks as Valve officially announced to be returning to the Half-Life series with a new installment set between the first and second game, Half-Life: Alyx. Playing as the daughter of Dr. Eli Vance, the same-named Alyx and her journey would be directed through a unique virtual reality experience during the overtaking of the Combine forces in City 17.

However, though the game will be a first-party project developed by Valve Corporation, it is fact that the game will also be arriving to HTC Vive, Oculus, and Microsoft Mixed Reality later in 2020. But for the capable fans on PlayStation 4, they were left in the dark following the initial announcement.

But according to a recent interview with PushSquare, the possibility is not completely ruled out entirely. Game Designer Greg Coomer discloses that the game is scheduled to launch this April for SteamVR exclusively, but that other platforms are also on the table follow suit. But for PlayStation VR, the platform is another story.

We believe Sony’s VR platform has been a huge success for the medium, and we assume that lots of Sony customers would love to experience this new chapter of Half-Life.

While not fully out of the equation just yet, Coomer does share that development on the port for PSVR is not in development. That is mainly due to the team’s focus to bring an effective launch for SteamVR before worrying about crafting versions for other platforms. Which is a relief for users who might have lost hope already seeing that discussion regarding PlayStation VR never really surfaced following the announcement.

In news related to the Alyx’s development, it was reported that the project did ask for more support from other teams to bring the game to reality. Such as the studio behind Team Fortress 2 and the 2018 announced In The Valley of Gods developer Campo Santo have been instructed to put the two titles on hold until the release of the virtual reality experience for next year.
