When players tend feel nostalgic for some of the most popular games at the time, many recall the online lobbies they populated in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However, as the series is still as popular if not more, many of the core staff at the time moved on to a new studio, Resapwn Entertainment. And since its founding more than a decade ago, the developer continues to shift the standard for the industry.
With the release of Titanfall and in extension Apex Legends, the Electronic Arts subsidiary continues to cultivate new and exciting experiences – even outside of its inaugural universe. Titles like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the success that followed continues to prove right for the team’s reputation. But when it came time for the studio’s first virtual reality game, not so much.
In December, the Titanfall team launched Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond for Oculus and was met with average reception. But, what did pique interest was later in 2021 that the game was nominated for an Oscar. Now with the Oscars taking place on Sunday, it was revealed that ‘Colette’ won the award for Best Documentary Short Project.

Although Respawn Entertainment is challenging how video games are experienced, the avenue to welcome potential Academy nominations was not on its playbook. Now with the short picture from Anthony Giacchino and Alice Doyard being awarded, this also marks the first in history that a video game studio is awarded an Oscar as well.
As for coming plans from Respawn Entertainment in recent days, the game studio is preparing its next season for Apex Legends, Legacy. The update is to incorporate the most Titanfall content to date with new Legend, Valk. You can read the full report by heading here.
