Activision and Vicarious Visions released the remasters for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020 which had fans intrigued if more would come. Last year, Tony Hawk said on a Twitch livestream that the plan was to remaster Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, but Activision canned the idea of doing that remaster.

Activision took pitches from outside studios, but were not impressed by them. Vicarious Visions were then absorbed by Blizzard Entertainment to provide long-term support on other projects.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered broke a franchise record as it exceeded one million units sold in 2020. With Microsoft likely to acquire Activision Blizzard in the coming months, it would mean they’d own the IP along with many others. When it comes to acquiring Activision there are a lot of IPs that come to mind such as Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Overwatch, but there are hidden gems such as Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk.

It seems that Tony Hawk is up for more remasters of his famous Pro Skater series that first released in 1999. The real question is will Microsoft bring any of the fan favorites back? This is the same company that has yet to create a new Banjo-Kazooie game since 2008.

Do you think the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 Remaster project will be revived by Xbox Game Studios if the acquisition follows through?
