For those that recall the release of Death Stranding, the first independent release from Kojima Productions following founder Hideo Kojima departing from Konami, left an impression on the industry. While some believe it to be a hallmark release for the industry, others found it to be a falloff in contrast to previous work from Kojima; especially with the game’s performance at launch.
However, the game illustrated to be profitable for Sony Interactive Entertainment when it was revealed there will be a ‘Director’s Cut’ for Death Stranding. Yes, a new version which delivers more content alongside a native version for PlayStation 5. Noted, the titling for the new release did not agree with Hideo Kojima since most of the content was not cut from the base game – denouncing the use for the title.
Earlier this year 505 Games announced that Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be releasing with a PC port on Steam & Epic Games Store later in March. Today it officially arrived at the storefront. The publisher presses that the game can be upgraded to the new version at a discoed upgrade cost for owners of the original release.
“To receive the upgrade for Death Stranding Director’s Cut you must have the Death Stranding base game already installed on your PC. At launch, when you go through to purchase the game from the PC storefront, you will be presented with the upgrade price. If you do not have the Death Stranding base game installed, then you will be presented with the full price.”
Elsewhere from Kojima Productions, the first is tapping into new mediums with the opening of a new division in California. In that, a new hub focusing on film, music, and television has formed over in west coast, but word on its first production has yet to be revealed. You can read the full report by heading here.
