Concerning Netflix’s activity this week, the streaming platform has been keeping itself busy with new announcement underway for coming video game-adapted productions. One announcement from the firm discloses that The Witcher will be receiving a spin-off series dubbed ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’. The shorter show is told to be set prior to the time of Geralt of Rivia and feature returning production staff of the original series.
Elsewhere, sources told that Netflix and John Wick Writer Derek Kolstad will be collaborating on an unannounced Splinter Cell anime. The undisclosed production is told to be in agreement to feature two season already consisting of 16 episodes in total. However, little detail has been shared to elaborate on the report.
But now, Netflix has announced to be working with Ubisoft elsewhere to conceive a film adaptation of Beyond Good & Evil.
According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, Ubisoft discloses that Detective Pikachu Director Rob Letterman will be helming this new project under Netflix. Additionally, Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin will be producing the upcoming film adaptation. The production is told to still be in early development as the search for a writer to pen the script is still ongoing.
This is not Ubisoft’s first project partnered with Netflix. Last E3, the publisher announced during its titular press conference that the upcoming The Division film will be arriving exclusively to Netflix. The project when conceived back in 2016 shared that Jake Gyllenhaal & Jessica Chastain will both be starring in the motion picture.
Even more, Netflix has also signed with Ubisoft and Castlevania Executive Producer Adi Shankar to produce a Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon television series. The show is said to aim towards a young-adult demographic upon initial reporting. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
