Just a few days prior, Sony revealed that July 2019’s PlayStation Plus free titles will headline with Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 and Aquiris Games Studio’s Horizon Chase Turbo for PlayStation 4 owners. But in an unknown, last-minute decision, Sony updated this month’s lineup by removing the annual sports title and replacing it with Detroit Become Human.
Here is the statement from Sony on the sudden decision:
We are making a swap to the PS Plus games lineup for July. This month, we are adding Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition, which also includes Heavy Rain, to the July games lineup instead of Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.
The Deluxe Edition for Quantic Dreams’ 2018 title atop of offering a collection of digital goodies for the more hardcore fans also provides a digital copy of 2010’s Heavy Rain for no additional cost. Which seems to be a great deal for those who weren’t fortunate to grab Pro Evolution Soccer before the decision to swap the titles.
As for the second title Horizon Chase Turbo, the racing game was not involved in the spontaneous swap and is currently still available to download for free.
Previously, it was revealed that Detroit Become Human along with Quantic Dreams’ Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls will be going multiplatform as the games will be distributed through the Epic Games Store. This fell into effect following Chinese NetEase Games small acquisition of the studio to open their titles to more platforms.
What are your thoughts on Sony changing this month’s free title from Pro Evolution Soccer to Detroit Become Human?
