For those who have been paying attention, Microsoft and Sony are currently in the process of closing out this current generation of concolse hardware for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. That we already know, however, the idea of what the new systems will look like has been left pending until the company is properly ready to disclose.

While we do know some of the specs for both upcoming Project Scarlett and the inevitable PlayStation 5, the physical unit as of now has no appearance for users to get a grasp of for the next line of consoles. But according to a tweet from a developer at Codemasters, the first glimpse of the next generation is here.

In response to an article from Metro, Senior Artist Matt Stott shares that the image headlining the piece is in fact the devkit for the unannounced PlayStation 5.

Just from looking at the blueprints for the developer model, this sure is a look into the future. In all seriousness, it should be reminded that this is only the devkit and the retail model for the PlayStation 5 will look, hopefully, a lot more different than what we are currently looking at.

Looking at the image for the devkit, one eye grabbing segment is the amount of USB ports that are sitting on the front of the unit with five in contrast to the two on the current PlayStation 4. Another nitpick atop of the incessant amount of ports is the countless number of vents surrounding the entire model, obviously. Although it is expected as stated before that what is shown will be adjusted for the base model, the characteristics for the hardware could be altered as well.

What are your thoughts on the PlayStation 5 devkit?
